The community of Alfred is part of the township of Alfred and Plantagenet, which has a population of 8,600. Located at the intersection of the Ottawa River and the South Nation River, many of the area’s activities are centred on the water and the outdoors. Boat launches, canoe routes and the Jessup’s Falls Conservation area, with its picnic areas and floating docks, are just a few of the attractions the community has to offer.
For big city amenities, Alfred is only an hour’s drive from Ottawa. Day trips for shopping, theatre or visiting the many historical attractions of Canada’s capital are convenient and affordable.
Alfred Student Life
Alfred’s small campus and class sizes allow students to get to know their classmates. A low student-to-teacher ratio gives students the opportunity to ask questions to get the most from their education and to have an ally in finding the right work placement.
Outside of the classroom, Alfred’s student council organizes a number of clubs and activities, including winter sports competitions with other University of Guelph campuses. A sports centre and athletic programs are also available to help students stay active while socializing.
Alfred Student Housing
Alfred’s residence offers 54 rooms, including single-person small and medium-sized rooms, as well as large double rooms. The facility houses a shared kitchen, bathrooms, laundry facilities and living room / common area. All rooms have air-conditioning and temperature control. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus.
