Pre-Business Courses
Pre-business programs offer upgrading in what will be the core curriculum topics in any business program: math, accounting, marketing and communications, organization, operations management and much more. Each course will focus on the fundamentals in the subject, bringing students to the point where they are prepared to enter a business program.
Many pre-business programs also act as the first year of two- and three-year business programs, allowing students to transition smoothly into getting their diplomas.
General Pre-Business Program Requirements
Ontario college pre-business programs require an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, which includes a grade 12 English credit. If you will be transitioning from these programs into other business programs, additional criteria may also be required.
Pre-Business Jobs and Salaries
Pre-business certificates can be enough to start a career in the business sector, but you will likely start in an entry-level position with a smaller salary. The upside of starting work right away is that you can learn from experienced professionals, and there will likely be room for advancement with experience.
More often, graduates of pre-business programs continue their education in a two- or three-year business diploma program, which prepares them for more advanced roles in the business world.
