How to Send Your Transcripts to Ontario Colleges

"How do I get my transcript?"

"Where do I send my transcript?"

"Do I need to send my transcripts to the colleges?"

These are all good questions, but the answers will depend on who you are, where you are from, and what type of transcripts you are asking about. To find how to request your transcripts and have them sent to the colleges along with your application, click on one of the links below:

Definition: Anyone taking at least one high school course.

If you’re a current Ontario high school student interested in applying to college, let your high school guidance counsellor know. Most high schools will send your grades to ontariocolleges.ca for you at the appropriate times throughout the year.

You’ll still need to verify that your grades are correct in your application. Check under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard Home screen in early December, early March, mid-May and mid-July to ensure your most current records are displaying. If something is missing or incorrect, tell your guidance counsellor right away.

Once your grades are received, they will be sent to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days.

Exception – Night School / Summer School / Online Courses

If you’re attending an Ontario night school or summer school, or you’re taking online courses, you’ll need to contact the school you’re attending directly to request that proof of registration, interim reports or final transcripts for these courses be sent to ontariocolleges.ca.

The time it takes for your documents to reach ontariocolleges.ca will vary. Once received, we will post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard within 1 business day and send it to your college choice(s) within 2 to 3 business days.

Definition: Anyone who has graduated with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Ontario Secondary School Certificate, or who has attended high school in Ontario but did not graduate and is no longer attending.

If you’re a former Ontario high school student, you’ll need to provide your transcript as part of your application.* On the Order Transcripts screen of your application, you’ll see a message indicating whether or not you can request your transcript electronically. You can also check our list of participating schools to find out if your high school supports electronic transcript requests.

If the electronic option is available, click the Request button to request your transcript. There is a fee for electronic transcript requests that varies by high school, as well as a non-refundable $5.00 transcript processing fee that is applied per order. You’ll see the charges when you move to the Payment Summary screen.

Once you’ve paid for your application and transcript request, your request will be sent to the institution and they will send your transcript to ontariocolleges.ca for you.

If your application does not have the option to request a transcript, you will need to contact your institution and request that they provide an official transcript to OCAS. It is important to note that you only need to request the transcript once, either through the application or directly through your institution. Your institution can mail a paper copy to us in a sealed envelope or email a PDF version to service@ocas.ca.

We will not respond to or process emailed transcripts from applicants. Transcripts must come to us directly from the institution by mail or email. Do not have your transcript sent into us until your application is complete and you have paid the application fee. We cannot process transcripts for incomplete or unpaid applications.   

It could take up to 3 weeks for ontariocolleges.ca to receive and process your electronic transcript. Once received, we’ll post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard within 1 business day and send it to your college choice(s) within 2 to 3 business days.

For paper transcripts, please add an additional 2 to 3 business days to the timeline.

* If your Ontario high school grades are already posted under Docs or Supporting Documents and there have been no changes to your courses or marks, you are not required to provide another transcript.

Definition: Anyone currently taking, or who has already taken, courses up to the Grade 12 level (or equivalent) at an Ontario college, in preparation for admission to a college program.

If you’re currently taking academic upgrading at an Ontario college, or you’ve taken it in the past, you’ll need to provide your college transcript as part of your application. You can request it electronically on the Order Transcripts screen. Check if the college(s) you are applying to require you to send your transcript now, at end of term, or both.

End of Fall Term = January
End of Winter Term = May
End of Spring / Summer Term = September

Depending on the institution providing the transcript, you may be charged a fee. If so, you’ll see the fee on the Order Transcripts screen and on the Payment screen. A non-refundable $5.00 transcript processing fee will also apply to each transcript request order.

It could take up to 3 weeks for your transcript to reach ontariocolleges.ca. Once received, we’ll post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard within 1 business day and send it to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days.

Definition: Anyone who has successfully completed GED (General Education Development) testing.

If you’ve taken and passed the GED test, you’ll need to provide your test results as part of your application. You'll need to contact the institution where you took your test directly and request they provide your official GED results to ontariocolleges.ca. The institution can mail us a paper copy in a sealed envelope or email a PDF version to service@ocas.caWe will not respond to or process emailed documents from applicants. Documents must come to us directly from the institution by mail or email.

Do not send your GED results until your application is complete and you’ve paid the application fee. We cannot process transcripts received for incomplete or unpaid applications.

The time it takes for ontariocolleges.ca to receive your results will vary by institution. Once received, we will post them under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard and send them to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days.

Definition: Anyone who is 19 years of age or older by the first day of college and does not have a high school diploma (Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Ontario Secondary School Certificate) or General Education Diploma (GED).

If you’re a mature student, meaning you have no high school diploma or GED, you will complete the application as normal. However, because mature student processes vary from college to college, contact your college choice(s) directly to see if they have any extra requirements.

Important: If you completed high school, even decades ago, you are considered a high school graduate not a mature student.

Definition: Anyone who has attended, is currently attending, or has completed home-schooling.

If you’re currently attending or previously attended a home school, select Canadian High School Education from the drop-down list. Then, for the School Name, type Home. If your home school is in Ontario, select Home / Private Non-Accredited High School from the list.

After your application is complete and you’ve paid the application fee, email your transcript documentation to service@ocas.ca. Please note that we cannot process transcripts received for incomplete or unpaid applications.

It’s important to note that the application process for home-schooled individuals varies from college to college. For example, some colleges may require you to take an exam in addition to providing credentials (like transcripts) associated with your home-schooling, while others may ask for documentation showing your home-school curriculum. For this reason, it’s a good idea to contact your college choice(s) directly to see if they have any extra requirements.

Definition: Anyone who has attended, is currently attending or has graduated from an Ontario public college or university.

If you’re applying to a college you’ve attended in the past, are currently attending or have already graduated from, your records will still be on file and you won’t need to provide a transcript to that college.

In all other cases, you’ll need to provide one copy of your transcript to each of the colleges you wish to attend as part of your application.

You can request copies of your transcript electronically on the Order Transcripts screen of your application. A transcript request is automatically created when you add education from an Ontario public college or university to your application. On the Order Transcripts screen, simply select the college or university and click the Request button to place your order.

Paper Ontario public college / university transcripts will not be accepted. Even if you currently have a paper copy of your transcript, you will still need to order an electronic version.

Depending on the institution providing your transcript, you may be charged a fee. If a fee applies, you will see the fee on the Order Transcripts screen and on the Payment screen. Please note that transcript request fees are subject to change by the issuing institution. A non-refundable $5.00 transcript processing fee will also apply to each transcript request order.

It could take up to 3 weeks for your transcript to reach the destination college. Once the institution fulfills your request, if your transcript was sent electronically, we’ll post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard Home screen within 1 business day and send it to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days. (No information will be posted for transcripts that were mailed.)

IMPORTANT:

If you add new colleges to your application at any time or add a new application to your account, you will need to make new college / university transcript requests and pay the fees again.

If you are currently attending an Ontario public college or university, please check if the college(s) you are applying to require you to send your transcript now, at end of term, or both.

End of Fall Term = January
End of Winter Term = May
End of Spring / Summer Term = September

If you have recently graduated from an Ontario public college or university, please wait until your final marks and credential information have been posted before ordering your transcript.

Ordering an End of Term transcript does not guarantee credential information (Academic Award) will be posted on your transcript.  Please contact your College or University to determine when the credential information will display on your transcript before ordering your transcript.  You will need to order an immediate “send now” transcript at that time.

NOTES:

Algoma University is a former affiliate campus of Laurentian University. If you are a Laurentian-Algoma student or graduate, please request transcripts from Laurentian. All students admitted during or after 2009 are Algoma University students.

Cambrian at Hanson transcripts must be requested directly from Hanson. Please request that they mail an official copy of your transcript directly to the college(s) you have applied for.

Guelph-Humber students or graduates must order transcripts from University of Guelph. Please add University of Guelph in the Education section of your application to request your transcript.

Humber College, Continuous Professional Learning (CPL): If you have taken CPL courses at Humber College, your statement of grades can be shared with OCAS using Mycreds.ca. For more information on how to do so, please visit the following link: How to Request an Official Digital Statement of Grades

Saint Paul University is a federated college of the University of Ottawa.  All Students who have attended Saint-Paul University must request transcripts directly from Saint-Paul University. You will need to contact the institute directly for a transcript and request that they mail an official copy of your university transcript directly to the college(s).

University of Toronto transcript requests from the following divisions or programs at the University of Toronto must be made directly to that division: Additional Qualifications Program (AQ) at OISE / UT; School of Continuing Studies; Toronto School of Theology; Woodsworth Pre-University Program; and School of Graduate Studies (post-doctoral fellows only). When requesting a transcript from any of the aforementioned divisions, please ask that they mail an official copy of your transcript directly to the college(s) that you are applying to regardless of when you may have attended or graduated from these divisions.

University of Toronto graduates who graduated prior to the fall 1978 session will also need to contact the institute directly for a transcript and request that they mail an official copy of your university transcript directly to the college(s). 

York University transcripts from the following departments must be requested directly from those departments: York University English Language Institute (YUELI) and Schulich Executive Education. Requests for transcripts from either Continuing Studies or Continuing Education must be made to the Division of Continuing Education. Requests for Additional Qualification (AQ) courses taken after 1993 must be made to Research and Field Development, Faculty of Education and you will need to request that they mail an official copy of your transcript directly to the college(s).

Definition: Anyone who has attended, is currently attending or has graduated from an Ontario private postsecondary institution.

You’ll need to contact your institution and request they provide an official transcript to ontariocolleges.ca. The institution can mail us a paper copy in a sealed envelope or email a PDF version to service@ocas.ca. We will not respond to or process emailed transcripts from applicants. Transcripts must come to us directly from the institution by mail or email.

Do not have your transcript sent into us until your application is complete and you have paid the application fee. We cannot process transcripts for incomplete or unpaid applications.

The time it takes for ontariocolleges.ca to receive your transcript will vary by institution. Once received, we’ll post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard and send it to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days.

Definition: Anyone who has attended, is currently attending or has graduated from a high school and / or a postsecondary institution from outside of Ontario but within Canada.

You must contact your institution and request that they provide an official transcript to ontariocolleges.ca. The institution can mail us a paper copy in a sealed envelope or email a PDF version to service@ocas.ca. Transcripts from some provinces may need to be mailed in by the applicant. Transcripts mailed in by applicants will only be accepted if they are unopened in their original sealed envelopes. The institution must send transcripts to us by mail or email when possible. We will not respond to or process emailed transcripts from applicants.

Do not have your transcript sent into us until your application is complete and you have paid the application fee. We cannot process transcripts for incomplete or unpaid applications.

The time it takes for your transcripts to reach ontariocolleges.ca will vary. Once received, we’ll post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard and send it to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days.

Definition: Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada who have education from outside of Canada.

If you have education from outside of Canada, you’ll need to provide a Credential Assessment Report as part of your application.

There are two commonly used credential assessment organizations:

  • International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS)
    Provides general (document-by-document) assessments and comprehensive (course-by-course) assessments for both secondary and postsecondary studies. Important: If the college requirements are based on a comprehensive (course-by-course) secondary evaluation, you must use the ICAS service.
  • World Education Services (WES)
    Provides general (document-by-document) assessments for both secondary and postsecondary studies and comprehensive (course-by-course) assessments for postsecondary studies only.

Depending on the program(s) you’re applying to, one service may be preferred over the other, so contact your college choice(s) directly for more information. When your evaluation is complete, request that the evaluating organization send it to ontariocolleges.ca for you.

The time it takes for your report to reach ontariocolleges.ca will vary. Once received, we’ll post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard and send it to your college choice(s) within 1 to 2 business days.
