Bursaries are another form of financial assistance available to post-secondary students. Bursaries are based primarily on an individual’s financial needs. Most bursary programs have a formal application process, which may include other selection criteria such as extracurricular activities, community involvement, and leadership. Bursaries are intended to supplement a student’s primary source of post-secondary education funding. Aside from the bursaries offered within the college system, there are many available through non-profit organizations, corporations, and service clubs.
