University of Guelph, Campus d'Alfred, located in eastern Ontario near Ottawa, is a French-language institution with a focus on education and rural community renewal in Canada and on a global scale. As part of the Ontario Agricultural College and the University of Guelph, the campus has earned recognition as a leader in teaching and applied research. Alfred offers diploma programs in Agricultural Technology, Environment Management and Food, Nutrition and Risk Management. The campus also provides a Veterinary Technology program, in partnership with Collège Boréal. Certificate programs are offered in landscape and horticultural studies, food service, dairy herd worker and veterinary office administration. The community of Alfred is part of the township of Alfred and Plantagenet, which has a population of 8,600. Located at the intersection of the Ottawa River and the South Nation River, many of the area’s activities are centred on the water and the outdoors. Boat launches, canoe routes and the Jessup’s Falls Conservation area, with its picnic areas and floating docks, are just a few of the attractions the community has to offer.Alfred Students
Alfred’s small campus and class sizes allow students to get to know their classmates. A low student-to-teacher ratio gives students the opportunity to ask questions to get the most from their education and to have an ally in finding the right work placement.
Alfred’s residence offers 54 rooms, including single-person small and medium-sized rooms, as well as large double rooms. The facility houses a shared kitchen, bathrooms, laundry facilities and living room / common area. All rooms have internet access, air-conditioning and temperature control.
A highlight of Alfred Campus’ student services is its employment placement centre. The centre helps graduating or work-study students find employment in the animal and agriculture industry by acting as a resource for former graduates looking for new career opportunities and for current students looking for employment opportunities.
