Living and learning at Ridgetown College


The University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus is an institution strongly focused on teaching, research and technology transfer. Ridgetown offers diploma programs in agriculture, horticulture, environmental management and veterinary technology. Ridgetown also offers a veterinary medical office administration certificate program and a degree in bio-resource management with an environmental management major.

Ridgetown’s agricultural and environmental research began 80 years ago, and remains a crucial part of the campus’ mission and objectives. The applied research projects conducted by scientists through the campus are well-known and respected by Ontario’s farmers as well as professionals worldwide.

Ridgetown Campus, Ridgetown
Ridgetown is a small town, with a population of only 3,450, but is home to rich historical attractions. The Ridge House Museum is a true-to-life rendering of the average home and lifestyle in 1875. You can also visit Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the home of the inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel of the same name, about Josiah Henson.

Ridgetown also boasts the Greenview Aviaries Park and Zoo, as well as restaurants and off-campus housing options for students. For city life, the town is just a short drive from Chatham, which has shopping malls, movie theatres, parks beaches, and the Thames River.

Ridgetown Student Life
Ridgetown’s small student population is one of its strongest attributes for student life. With small class sizes, students are better able to get to know their classmates and instructors, and also have easy access to the many hands-on learning opportunities.

Ridgetown is not small on extracurricular activities, however. There are many clubs and committees on campus that encourage student involvement, from the student’s council to the environmental club, and many more. A number of intramural sports hosted in Ridgetown’s new athletic facility helps students stay active while getting to know their peers.

Ridgetown Student Housing
Steckley Hall, Ridgetown’s on-campus residence, houses over 250 students in double and single rooms. Services in the residence include cable TV, phone and internet access, laundry facilities, fitness room and student lounges.

Ridgetown Student Services
Ridgetown offers a variety of student services, including their unique Animal Adoption Centre, which was created to help find homes for animals used in the Veterinary Technology program at the campus. Other services designed to meet the needs of the student body include:
